Throwback Thursday...a few photos of my little ones

Not much of a story behind this collection of photos, but I wanted to share a few favorites from when my daughters were very young. I do have a quick little anecdote, though, which you might find amusing. They both have the most amazing big blue eyes which would always get comments from people anywhere we went. Random people in stores or other places would see them and remark on what beautiful eyes they had. Then they would glance at me and say... "well I guess they get those from your husband". I would then be torn with whether to just smile and say yes...or to say something like "yes their father has blue eyes but he is no longer my husband...and actually if you do the genetics, they get their blue eyes from me!"

Of course, the first response was the best and the one I chose, but inside, I was dying to draw a Punnett square and explain how it worked. How many of you remember learning about those in school?? I am a  heterozygote (Bb) since my mom has brown eyes and my dad has green eyes which means I then express the dominant or brown eyes gene but carry the recessive gene.  Their father was a homozygote (bb) which is how he could express the recessive gene and have blue eyes.  He could only give a "little b", so in order for the girls to have blue eyes, I had to give my "little b" both times. I remember one of their middle school science teachers being in awe of the fact that they both had blue eyes for this very reason. So here's a little genetics lesson for throwback Thursday and a few pictures of my blue-eyed beauties!💙
