Motivation Monday...the best laid plans...

Making plans...we all do it. How can you not? Especially as a working mom, planning out the day, week or even the month can be so critical in trying to maintain sanity and be sure things get done. This can be anything from simple daily tasks to special events. But what do we do when things don't go according to plan? This can be a frustrating thing depending on the situation. The majority of us had this happen over and over again due to the pandemic. This past year has been the epitome of things not going as planned. So many had to cancel and/or postpone all kinds of trips and other significant life events like weddings and graduations. In some instances there were things lost that would never get to happen, like my daughter's in person high school graduation. There was tremendous sadness associated with this at first. You only graduate from high school once. We were very lucky with how her school handled this, and they had an extremely well done virtual ceremony so all was not lost. In fact, the way it turned out may have even been more special than a traditional graduation.

So this is just one example of how when plans change unexpectedly in a seemingly negative way, it's time to rally. It's not the time to throw in the towel. Rather get creative and find a way to work around it. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on.  Maybe a critical work meeting ran late, and although you thought you had your day scheduled perfectly, you didn't make it to your child's soccer game. It can be a devastating thing on that day, but the reality of it is...you tried, your intention was to be there, and it was out of your control. You could not be two places at once. Chances are there will be another soccer game, and without a doubt, you will clear your schedule for the afternoon and be there. A setback will just set you up for a comeback! There is always another opportunity as long as you don't give up. So on this motivation Monday, my advice is don't let a change in plans derail you. Keep your end goal in mind, whatever that may be, and keep moving forward toward it.
