Fun Friday...A little opera with dinner!

I think most of us realize now more than ever, that one of the ways we like to have fun is going out to a restaurant. The limitations we have dealt with over the past several months and continue to deal with now have definitely changed this simple yet enjoyable activity. It can be fun to have favorite places to return to for special occasions or any time you want to be sure of a great meal or experience.

For my family, The Victor Cafe in Philadelphia is one of these places.  My dad learned of this restaurant many years ago, and we have been back countless times.  It is an amazing Italian restaurant in South Philly established in the early 1900s. It combines incredible food and service with entertainment from the wait staff. It is such a cool experience. The wait staff are all opera singers and every 20 minutes or so, someone will ring a bell and announce a performance. Everyone dining is always courteous and silent as they are then treated to a beautiful aria. The talent we have enjoyed during dinners there over the years has been truly amazing. My dad is a big fan of opera, and although the rest of us are not as much, we are always in awe of the incredible voices, and have been so impressed by every performance we have experienced (& every meal as well๐Ÿ˜‰). You would usually able to hear at least three or four different people sing during a typical dinner. If you live in the area or visit Philadelphia, I highly recommend this restaurant...it would definitely make for a fun Friday night!๐Ÿ๐Ÿท๐ŸŽผ

This was one of our special occasion dinners...a milestone birthday for my dad!

FUN FACT:  The Victor Cafe is also famous for being in two Rocky movies! It was first seen in the sixth movie of the series "Rocky Balboa" and it takes on the name "Adrian's" for Rocky's wife who had passed away when this film starts. It was in the next movie "Creed" as well. Can't mention Rocky without a "Yo Adrian!" (or Adrienne)...something I may have heard a time or two, especially while living in a row house in Philly during medical school!
