Mother's Day Launch

After nearly two years of brainstorming ideas for a business, The Working Mom was born. Lisa and I gained a lot of momentum toward the end of 2019 and decided it would be special to officially bring our company to the public on Mother's Day, 2020.  This holiday started in the early 1900s with the intention of honoring mothers and sacrifices they made for their children. It has evolved into a celebration of motherhood and a day of appreciation and "rest" for mothers who are typically showered with cards, flowers and other gifts. This day often includes going out for a nice brunch or dinner. In fact, Mother's Day is traditionally the busiest day of the year for restaurants in the United States. Sadly, that will not be the case this year. When we decided to launch on this day, we could have never envisioned how different the world would be.  We hope that Mother's Day will still be very special for all mothers, grandmothers, mother-in-laws, step mothers and their families. This has been a time when many working moms have been faced with dilemmas related to the need to home school or lack of childcare while still having to work from home or go out to an essential job. Many have been struggling a lot during the pandemic, but hopefully there have also been some silver linings. As a physician, I have continued to work, but the nature of my specialty is such that I am not on the front lines of this crisis. My schedule has been much lighter than usual which has given me more time to spend with my daughters...my silver linings.
