Tuesday Treats!

It's still winter in the northeast USA. We are getting more snow than we have had in a few years. Snow is either a love or a hate thing. My friends that fly south or west for the winter hate the snow, but I on the other hand love it. I could honestly live in Maine. That being said, I'm also the last to take down my Christmas decorations each year too. My tree is still up and it's February 9th. The year after my mom passed I left the tree up the entire year. There has always been something magical about the winter and snow for me. I love a big bold red wine, a hot bowl of soup, and a warm cup of hot chocolate. Being a working mom means short cuts though. I'm sure I have the fancy schmancy recipe for homemade hot chocolate somewhere, but why? Is it any better than the Swiss Miss Marshmallow Lovers box? No, it's not, trust me, and don't feel guilty for not hand grating the fancy fine chocolate.....your kid won't tell the difference..... Ain't no one got time for that!! So buy the boxed mix, make it with part milk and part half-n-half so it's more decadent. Then decorate it for the little ones like below...... grab some thin pretzel sticks, melted chocolate (for dots of eyes, mouth, and buttons), and some old left-over candy corn from Halloween that I know most of my mom friends have at the bottom of "that" kitchen drawer we all have.... Insert a pretzel stick through the middle marshmallow to connect the upper and lower ones, then create the pretzel arms. They look festive, the kids love them, and they taste great!!

Cheers to a quick winter treat!!
